Biography
Kyle M. Green Jr.
Kyle M. Green Jr. is an American attorney and Democratic politician serving as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from the 83rd district. A native of Marrero, Louisiana, in Jefferson Parish, Green represents constituents in the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan Area. He was first elected in 2019 and assumed office on January 13, 2020, succeeding Robert Billiot.
Green is a member of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus and serves on the Commerce, Insurance, and Judiciary committees. He is eligible to serve through the 2028 term.
Education
Green graduated from Archbishop Shaw High School in 2005. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Southern University in 2009 and a Juris Doctor from the Southern University Law Center in 2015.
Political Experience
Before his election to the House of Representatives, Green gained diverse professional experience in government and law. During college, he interned in the United States House of Representatives and served as a substitute teacher in the East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools. He worked as a State Farm insurance agent in 2011 and 2012, and served as a law clerk for the Louisiana Department of Insurance in 2014 and 2015. He later established a private legal practice and served as an assistant Attorney General of Louisiana before his election to the state legislature.
