Biography

Kristin Bahner is a member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party representing District 37B in the Minnesota House of Representatives, which includes parts of the northwestern Twin Cities metropolitan area such as Maple Grove in Hennepin County. Born August 15, 1972, she grew up in Richfield, Minnesota, and works as an IT consultant and small business owner specializing in agile software development and project management. She has a partner named Brahme. Notable achievements include organizing the January 2017 Minnesota Women's March, one of the largest single-day events in state history with an estimated 110,000 attendees; appointment by Governor Tim Walz to the Governor's Technical Advisory Council ; and serving as chair of the Legislative Commission on Cybersecurity. She has also authored legislation to improve access to long-acting reversible contraceptives for women shortly after giving birth.

Education and Political Experience

Education: B.A. in communications from Gustavus Adolphus College.

Political Experience: Elected to the Minnesota House in 2018 after an unsuccessful 2016 run against Republican incumbent Dennis Smith; reelected every two years since, serving District 34B and District 37B , currently in her 4th or 5th term. Current committee roles include Co-Vice Chair of State Government Finance and Policy, and member of Education Finance and Health Finance and Policy.
