Biography
Kris Jordan was a Republican politician from Ohio who represented Delaware County in the Ohio House of Representatives for the 60th District during his third term at the time of his death. A staunch conservative, he was first elected at age 25 as a Delaware County Commissioner and built a long career in local and state politics, including two terms in the Ohio Senate from 2011 to 2019, where he chaired the State and Local Government and Veterans Affairs Committee. Notable achievements include introducing the Ohio "Heartbeat Bill" in 2016, which outlawed abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy and passed the General Assembly, as well as co-sponsoring recent bills on healthcare cost transparency, eminent domain reform, banning TikTok for state officials, the universal voucher "Backpack Bill," banning trans athletes in girls' sports, and requiring 60% voter approval for constitutional amendments. He also supported fracking in state parks to address budget issues. Jordan, from Ostrander, left behind three young children and died of natural causes at age 46.
