Biography
Kirk Schuring was a Republican politician from Ohio who represented Senate District 29, encompassing most of Stark County. A lifelong resident of Stark County, he served over three decades in the Ohio General Assembly, including the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate . Notable achievements include authoring legislation on economic development , healthcare, school safety, domestic violence penalties, organ donation, and expanding Ohio's Film Tax Credit to attract film productions. He held leadership roles such as Senate President Pro Tempore , Senate Majority Floor Leader, and committee vice chair positions in General Government and Rules & Reference. Schuring was named Legislator of the Year multiple times and was remembered as a bipartisan negotiator who worked until his final days battling cancer.
