Biography
Kirk Pearson
Kirk John Pearson was born on September 22, 1958, and is an American politician from Washington State. He is a member of the Republican Party and represented the 39th Legislative District, which includes most of Snohomish and Skagit counties, as well as portions of northern King County. Pearson was raised in Monroe, Washington, and graduated from Monroe High School in 1977.
Education
Pearson attended Wenatchee Valley College and Central Washington University.
Political Experience
Pearson has had an extensive career in public service:
- Planning Commissioner for the City of Monroe
- Special Assistant to U.S. Representative Jack Metcalf
- Washington House of Representatives representing the 39th District
- Washington State Senate representing the 39th District, where he served as Chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Parks Committee
During his 17 years in the Washington State Legislature, Pearson also served as a member of the Correctional Industries Board, the Pacific Fisheries Legislative Task Force, and the Sentencing Guidelines Commission.
In 2017, Pearson resigned from the state senate to become the State Director of the United States Department of Agriculture's Office of Rural Development for Washington, a position he held during President Donald Trump's first term. In May 2025, he was reappointed to this position by President Trump, where he serves as the Chief Executive Officer of USDA Rural Development in Washington state. Between his federal appointments, Pearson served as Vice President of External Affairs for Volunteers of America Western Washington.
