Biography
Kim Reynolds is a Republican who serves as the 43rd Governor of Iowa . Born on August 4, 1959, in Truro, Iowa, and raised in St. Charles, she became the first woman to serve as Iowa's governor on May 24, 2017, succeeding Terry Branstad. She was elected as the state's first female governor in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. On April 12, 2025, she announced she would not seek re-election in 2026. Notable achievements include delivering the largest tax cuts in state history, universal school choice, record investments in public education and mental health , and workforce initiatives. Nationally, she has chaired the Republican Governors Association and other groups like Jobs for America’s Graduates.

Reynolds earned a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from Iowa State University in 2016 at age 57, while serving as lieutenant governor. She also attended Northwest Missouri State University , Upper Iowa University , and Southwestern Community College.
