Biography
Kimberly Pope Adams is a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 82nd District, which encompasses parts of Dinwiddie and Prince George counties, all of Surry County, and the City of Petersburg. She has served as a Delegate since January 14, 2026.
Born in 1983 in Hopewell, Virginia, Adams is the youngest of three daughters. Her father worked as a union worker at a local chemical plant, while her mother served as a neighborhood crossing guard. Despite her parents' divorce during her childhood, both emphasized the importance of education. Adams grew up in the Five Forks area of Hopewell and maintains deep connections to the Tri-Cities region. She currently resides in Dinwiddie with her family.
Education
Adams earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Information Systems from Virginia Tech in 2005. She later completed her Master of Business Administration from Liberty University Online in 2017.
Political Experience
Prior to her election to the House of Delegates, Adams built an extensive career in public service. She briefly worked at a local CPA firm after graduating from Virginia Tech before joining the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Auditor, a position she held for several years. Her career in government advanced to roles including Assistant Director at Virginia State University, where she continued her dedication to public service and education.
Adams is actively involved in her community through Democratic Party leadership, serving as First Vice-Chair of the Dinwiddie Democratic Committee. She is also a member of the NAACP's Dinwiddie Branch and maintains involvement with the Petersburg and Prince George Democratic committees as well as Surry County Democratic Committee. Her professional background as an accountant and auditor informs her commitment to bringing accountability and transparency to the House of Delegates.
