Biography
Kevin John Olickal is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 16th District, which includes Skokie, Lincolnwood, and Chicago neighborhoods such as West Ridge, West Rogers Park, Andersonville, Arcadia Terrace, and Little India. This is the most diverse House district in Illinois, home to rich cultures, languages, and businesses. Raised in Skokie by immigrant parents, he was elected in November 2022 and assumed office on January 11, 2023. Notable achievements include being the first Indian-American elected to the Illinois House, pledging not to accept corporate lobbyist funds, and committing to progressive priorities like criminal justice reform, ending money bond, and reducing pretrial incarceration. He serves as a full-time legislator while advocating for working-class residents.
