Biography
Kevin J. McCabe is a Republican representing House District 30 in the Alaska House of Representatives, covering areas including Big Lake, Point Mackenzie, Houston, Petersville, Cantwell, Healy, Denali Park, Clear, and Anderson. Born in 1958 or 1959 in Hibbing, Minnesota, he has resided in Alaska for nearly 40 years and lives in Big Lake with his wife Linn, adult children, and grandchildren. A retired U.S. Coast Guard member , he currently serves as a Boeing 747 captain for a major international air cargo airline and has held roles such as chief pilot and union steward. He is involved in community service, including as a volunteer firefighter in Kodiak, and belongs to organizations like the American Legion, Big Lake Lions, Alaska Outdoor Council, National Rifle Association, and Wasilla Chamber of Commerce. Elected in 2020 to District 8 , he won re-election in 2022 with 55.9% of the vote and continues serving through at least 2026. Notable committee roles include House Administration, Revenue, Fish & Game, Transportation & Public Facilities , State Affairs, Fisheries, Transportation, and the Select Committee on Legislative Ethics.
