Kevin Hertel is a Democratic state senator representing Michigan's 12th District, which includes parts of Macomb, St. Clair, and Wayne counties. Born in 1985 in St. Clair Shores, he is the son of former state Representative Curtis Hertel Sr. and brother of former Senator Curtis Hertel Jr. He lives in St. Clair Shores with his wife, Ann, and their two children. Hertel advocates for prevailing wage laws, closing the gender wage gap, increased public education funding, and child safety measures.
