Biography
Kevin P. Egan
Kevin P. Egan was born on June 2, 1964, and is a lifelong resident of New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he resides with his wife, Susan, and their two children. He is a member of the Democratic Party and currently serves as an Assemblyman representing the 17th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly, a position he has held since January 9, 2024. Egan succeeded his father, Joseph V. Egan, who served in the Assembly for 22 years.
Education
Egan is a graduate of Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management and Labor Studies. He is also a graduate of the IBEW-NECA Certified Apprenticeship Program.
Political Experience
Egan's public service includes extensive involvement in local and state government:
- New Jersey General Assembly : Member representing the 17th District; serves on the Consumer Affairs Committee and the Oversight, Reforms, and Federal Relations Committee
- New Brunswick City Council : Served as City Council President and Vice President
- Rutgers University Board of Governors : Appointed by Governor Murphy in 2020
- New Jersey Schools Development Authority : Previously employed by this organization
- Professional role: Assistant Business Manager for Local 456 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where he also serves as a Trustee on the Pension and Annuity Funds
Egan's civic involvement extends to service on the boards of the New Brunswick State Theatre, Saint Peter's University Hospital, the New Brunswick Parking Authority, and the Middlesex County Tax Board. He is also a member of the New Brunswick Elks and the Knights of Columbus.
