Senator Kevin Daley

Kevin Daley is a Republican state senator representing Michigan's 26th Senate District, which encompasses parts of Genesee, Lapeer, Saginaw, and Tuscola Counties. Born on August 10, 1957, in Lapeer, Daley is a fifth-generation farmer and lifelong resident of the district.

Daley is married to Deborah and has three children: Michael, Thomas, and Elizabeth, as well as four grandchildren. He is a practicing Catholic and active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus , and the Kiwanis Club of Lapeer. He resides in Lum, Michigan.

Education

Daley attended Lapeer Senior High School for his formal education and has built his expertise through decades of agricultural and community involvement.

Political Experience

Daley began his public service career with the Arcadia Township Planning Commission , followed by roles as township trustee , treasurer , and supervisor .

He served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2008 to 2014, representing the 82nd District of Lapeer County. As the only active farmer serving in the House at that time, he was selected as chairman of the House Agriculture Committee.

Daley was elected to the Michigan State Senate in 2018, initially representing the 31st Senate District . He was again chosen as chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee in recognition of his agricultural expertise. He was most recently reelected on November 8, 2022, and sworn in on January 11, 2023.

In his current role, Daley serves on the Finance, Insurance, and Consumer Protection Committee; the Local Government Committee; and the Natural Resources and Agriculture Committee. He also holds the position of Senate Minority Caucus Chair. His policy priorities include creating a healthy economy, investing in skilled trades training, and protecting family values.
