Kevin Brown was born and raised in Norwich, Connecticut, to a Marine Veteran father and a working mother. He is married to Christina, a school administrator, and together they have two children, Jacob and Emilie, who attend Vernon Public Schools. Brown has been actively involved in the Vernon community through coaching youth sports and serving on various local boards.

Education

Brown graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2004, where he initially pursued a degree in Communication with plans to become a journalist. After discovering his passion for government through his involvement with the Student Government Association and as an intern for the Connecticut General Assembly, he switched his major to Public Policy and Government. He later earned a master's degree in education from the University of Bridgeport to support his career working with young people.

Political Experience

Before his election to the state legislature, Brown accumulated significant experience in public service and education. He spent over 18 years teaching civics and coaching youth sports at the high school level, most recently at CREC's Civic Leadership High School in Enfield. Prior to his legislative service, Brown served on the Vernon Board of Education, where he worked on the Finance Committee, Curriculum Committee, and Policy Committee, focusing on delivering balanced budgets and promoting equity for Vernon students.

Brown was first elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in 2022, defeating Republican candidate Jim Tedford. He currently serves on the Housing and Internship Committees in addition to his role as Vice Chair of Education and Assistant Majority Leader.
