Biography
Kerry Szeps Wood is a Democratic state representative serving Connecticut's 29th House District, which includes Rocky Hill, part of Wethersfield, and sometimes noted as including Newington. Elected in 2018, she has held the position since 2019 with her term ending in 2027. She lives in Rocky Hill and runs the Connecticut operations of a commercial real estate company specializing in retail, focusing on leasing and sales. Notable achievements include advocating for veterans' issues, such as funding for the Veterans Campus in Rocky Hill and affordable housing for seniors and veterans; championing public education funding via the education cost-sharing formula; promoting economic growth through college loan pay-off programs, small business loans, and health insurance cost reductions; and environmental activism, including starting one of the state's first organic farms, supporting renewable energy like wind and solar, and opposing natural gas fracking.
