Biography
Kerry Gruenhagen is a Republican state senator representing District 41 in the Iowa Senate. Born around 1970, he is a fifth-generation farmer and small business owner based in Walcott, Iowa, operating a grain farm with his father and son in rural Scott and Muscatine counties. He has lived in Walcott for most of his 52+ years, is married to Kali , and they have a blended family including one son, three daughters, and grandchildren. They are members of Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport. Gruenhagen was elected in November 2022 after winning the Republican primary against Alan Weets and defeating Democrat Deb VanderGaast in the general election, following redistricting that opened the seat. Notable achievements include serving as president of the Muscatine County Farm Bureau , organizer and former co-host of the Quad City Conservative Breakfast Club, and advocacy for agriculture, economic growth, and conservative policies.
