Biography
Representative Keresa Richardson
Keresa Richardson is a Republican representing Texas House District 61, which encompasses parts of Collin County including McKinney, Frisco, Celina, Anna, and Weston. She was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2025.
Richardson is a lifelong Texan and accomplished entrepreneur who serves as CEO of The Lawton Group, a business she and her husband J.R. built from the ground up over 40 years ago. The company provides plumbing, HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, and pest control services across the Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio areas.
Beyond her business ventures, Richardson is a devoted wife, mother of three, and grandmother of five. She is deeply committed to her faith and actively serves her community by hosting charity events and welcoming missionaries. As a cancer survivor, she is passionate about supporting cancer patients and advocates for a future free from the disease.
In her 2025 campaign for District 61, Richardson defeated an incumbent opponent by a margin of 70% to 30% in a runoff election, despite being outspent five-to-one.
Education
Richardson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M University and a Master of Arts degree from Oklahoma State University.
Political Experience
Richardson currently serves on two House committees: Human Services and Trade, Workforce & Economic Development, where she participates in the Subcommittee on International Relations.
As a principled conservative leader, she prioritizes reducing taxes, fostering economic growth, and preserving Texas conservative values. Drawing on her extensive entrepreneurial experience, she is a vocal advocate for small businesses and women in the trades.
