Biography
Kent A. Marmon is a Republican member of the Idaho House of Representatives, representing District 11A. A native of Caldwell, Idaho, with pioneer great-grandparents, he is a second-generation Caldwell resident born in April 1956. He assumed office on December 1, 2024, with his current term ending December 1, 2026, and is running for re-election in 2026. Previously, he had unsuccessful Republican primary runs in 2010, 2014, and 2022 before winning the 2024 primary and general elections. Marmon is married to Sylvia , with three children, 15 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Notable achievements include the International Circle of Service Award from Circle K International and the Silver Beaver Award from the Ore-Ida Council for his Scouting service as an Eagle Scout, scoutmaster, district chair, and board member. He is endorsed by the Idaho Freedom Foundation and emphasizes issues like eliminating sales tax on groceries, reforming property taxes, opposing mask/vaccine mandates, and supporting school choice.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Caldwell High School; attended the College of Idaho; earned a B.S. in business administration with honors from Northwest Nazarene University.
- Professional Career: Owned and operated a family printing business for 12 years ; held management positions at Albertsons; built two Ace Hardware stores; served as Training Development Manager for MotivePower in Boise; retired at age 54.
- Political and Civic Experience: Served on the Caldwell City Council in the mid-1980s; Caldwell School District trustee; Kiwanis Utah-Idaho District governor, international committee chair, and trainer. Currently serves on the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce. This is his first term in the Idaho House .
