Biography
Kenneth Weyler
Kenneth L. Weyler was born on October 18, 1941, and is an American politician from New Hampshire. He is a Republican member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, representing Rockingham 14 district. He was first elected in 1990, served until 2008, and returned to the legislature in 2010 where he continues to serve.
Weyler is a United States Air Force veteran and worked as a captain and pilot for American Airlines for over a decade before his political career. He is married and has three children, residing in Kingston, New Hampshire.
Education
Weyler earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also completed USAF Pilot Training and attended the Air War College.
Political Experience
Weyler has had extensive involvement in local and state governance. He served on the Kingston Planning Board from 1981 to 1997 and as Commissioner of the Rockingham Planning Commission from 1980 to 2004. These positions preceded his election to the state legislature.
In the New Hampshire House, Weyler has been a key figure in budgetary matters, serving on the House Finance Committee since 1994. He served as chair of the committee in 2011-2012, during which time the state budget was cut by 10%. In October 2021, he resigned from his position as chairman amid internal party disagreements over budgeting priorities and leadership approach.
Weyler is particularly known for his advocacy of education choice and charter schools, which he has championed for over a decade. He is a member of Legislators for Limited Spending and has been recognized for his work on fiscal conservatism.
