Biography
Kenneth "Ken" Wells is a Republican representative for Orleans-3 in the Vermont House of Representatives. A fifth-generation Vermonter born in Newport and raised in Irasburg, he has built a diverse career in roofing, logistics, skiing, coaching, and media. Notable achievements include over 2,300 live broadcasts as a top play-by-play specialist in New England, serving as publisher of the Newport Daily Express and The Sherbrooke Record, and involvement in community organizations like the Orleans Lions Club and Newport Chamber of Commerce. Married for over 36 years with two children, Wells focuses on affordability, balanced representation, and Northeast Kingdom issues in Montpelier.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Attended Irasburg Graded School, Craftsbury Academy, Lake Region Union High School, and Lyndon State College; standout three-sport athlete in high school and college.
- Professional Experience: Slate roofer across New England, UPS worker, ski industry roles at Jay Peak and Difini Skiwear, coached soccer/basketball/baseball for 12 years, newspaper roles from salesman and photojournalist to editor and publisher, radio sales manager with extensive live broadcasts.
