Biography

Ken Rozenboom

Kenneth John Rozenboom was born on September 5, 1951, in rural Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he was raised and currently resides. He is a Republican representing Iowa State Senate District 19. Rozenboom is a farmer and agri-businessman who has operated Rosewood Farms, a family farming operation in rural Mahaska County. He worked for 30 years in sales and production management for Wake's Inc., a local agricultural supplier, before focusing on his farming operations and political career.

Beyond his professional work, Rozenboom is active in his community. He has served as an elder and deacon in the Bethel Christian Reformed Church and served on the board of Oskaloosa Christian School. He has held leadership positions on several community organizations, including serving as chairman of the Human Services Resource Council and the Christian Opportunity Center board. Rozenboom is married to Becky and has two children and four grandchildren.

Education

Rozenboom graduated from Pella Christian High School and attended Calvin College in Michigan before returning home to work on the family farm.

Political Experience

Rozenboom's public service began when he was elected to the Mahaska County Board of Supervisors in 2010, serving until 2012. He was elected to the Iowa State Senate in 2013 and has served since then. In February 2022, after initially announcing he would not seek re-election due to redistricting, he reversed his decision and won re-election to the 19th district by over 30%.

He currently serves as President Pro Tempore of the Iowa Senate and holds leadership positions on multiple committees, including Chair of State Government, Vice Chair of Agriculture, and participation in committees focused on Education, Natural Resources and Environment, Rules and Administration, and Transportation. He previously served as Chair of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee and Chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee . In March 2019, he received the Herbert Hoover Award for his years of service to the community.
