Biography
Ken Pendergraft
Ken Pendergraft is a 64-year-old Republican representative serving Wyoming House District 29. He was first elected in 2022 and is currently serving his second term in the Wyoming House of Representatives, with his tenure beginning in 2023.
Pendergraft is based in Sheridan, Wyoming, where he maintains an office at 459 W. Burkitt St. He is a member of the Freedom Caucus and has become known for advocating fiscal restraint in state spending.
Political Experience
Pendergraft holds a significant position within the state legislature as one of seven members of the House Appropriations Committee, a role he ascended to in 2025. This committee has primary authority over editing the governor's draft of Wyoming's two-year budget before it goes to the full Legislature and negotiation committees, and it oversees other state spending measures.
Notable Positions and Advocacy
One of Pendergraft's most prominent policy positions has been his push to defund the Wyoming Business Council, a state agency that provides grants and loans to businesses and communities for economic development. In January 2025, Pendergraft and other appropriators advanced language to defund and dismantle the agency, though the effort largely stalled in the full Legislature. He has indicated that he believes reform of the agency is insufficient and that its fundamental premise is improper, continuing to advocate for its defunding.
Pendergraft has also been active in discussing state spending priorities, including participation in legislative town halls addressing programs such as the SUN Bucks Summer Nutrition program.
