Ken King is a Republican representing Texas House District 88, which covers 19 counties in the Texas Panhandle and South Plains, including Andrews, Bailey, Briscoe, Castro, Childress, Cochran, Collingsworth, Donley, Gaines, Gray, Hale, Hall, Hemphill, Hockley, Lamb, Roberts, Swisher, Wheeler, and Yoakum. Born December 28, 1971, in Canadian, Texas, he is a businessman in the oil and natural gas industry, serving as President of Black Gold Pump and Supply Inc. Currently in his seventh term, he chairs the State Affairs Committee, serves on the House Administration Committee and Energy Council, and is on the House Research Organization Board of Directors. He belongs to caucuses including Rural, Republican, Energy, Texas Legislative Manufacturing, and Sportsman. Notable prior roles include president of the Canadian Independent School District board, chairman of the Hemphill County Appraisal District board, and involvement in energy organizations like the American Petroleum Institute. A lifetime NRA member, he supports the Texas State Rifle Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and Texas Farm Bureau. Married to Robin with two grown children, they are active in First United Methodist Church and the KK-125 Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
