Biography

Delegate Ken Kerr is a Democrat representing District 3B in the Maryland House of Delegates, covering parts of Frederick County. He has served since 2019, following election victories in 2018 and 2022, and is seeking a third term.

Born January 28, 1957, in Boston, Massachusetts, Ken Kerr is a longtime educator and public servant focused on education, workforce development, and health care. He began as a fourth-grade teacher in Frederick County Public Schools , worked in IT as a product manager and trainer , and returned to teaching as an adjunct and full professor of English at community colleges, including Frederick Community College , where he chaired the English department and served as interim dean.

Elected to the Frederick County Board of Education , he advocated for career and technical education, apprenticeships, and school improvements. Kerr won his House seat in 2018 by defeating Republican incumbent with 52.4% of the vote, was sworn in on January 9, 2019, and re-elected in 2022.
