Biography
Kem Smith is a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives, representing District 68 in part of St. Louis County. Elected in November 2024, she began her first two-year term in January 2025. A veteran educator with over two decades of experience in teaching, mentoring, and leadership, she is committed to equity, education, thriving communities, public education, healthcare, and economic opportunity. She grew up in North St. Louis County, is married to Orlando, and has five children—Jasmine, Trevon, Breonna, Jaylin, and Joy—along with grandchildren. She is also an author and creator of the PHRee Yourself movement.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduate of Hazelwood Central High School; holds degrees from Fontbonne University, Lindenwood University, and North Central University, including a Doctorate of Education earned in December 2022.
- Political Experience: First elected to the Missouri House in 2024 as a Democrat; serves constituents with a focus on fairness, equality, and addressing economic impacts on local communities.
