Biography
Kelly W. Pease is a Republican state representative serving Massachusetts' 4th Hampden District, which includes the city of Westfield and the town of Southampton. Born at Noble Hospital in Westfield and raised in Chester, Massachusetts, he began an acting career at age 9, appearing in 91 television commercials, a PBS TV movie, the Bloodhound Gang on PBS’s 3-2-1 Contact, an episode of the primetime show The Nurse, and live performances at Lincoln Center; he is an honorary member of Screen Actors Guild. He later focused on community service as a volunteer firefighter, part-time police officer, and elected board of selectmen member in Chester, served 20 years in the United States Army retiring in 2010, worked for the VA in Leeds, MA, and served as a legislative aide to then-State Senator Don Humason. Elected in November 2020, he won reelection in competitive races, including a notable 2024 victory against a well-funded challenger. Notable positions include service on the Ways and Means Committee and current role as Assistant Ranking Member on Ways and Means. He advocates for funding roads, schools, clean water, and senior citizens.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a second bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in law from Westfield State University using his GI Bill; later obtained a Master of Law Degree from Western New England University.
- Political Experience: Legislative aide to State Senator Don Humason; elected to Massachusetts House of Representatives for 4th Hampden District in 2020; reelected subsequently, with term extending to January 6, 2027; serves on Ways and Means Committee as Assistant Ranking Member.
