Kelly Eugene Hastings is a Republican who represented North Carolina House District 110 from 2011 until his primary defeat in 2026. Married with one daughter, he is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cherryville and has been active in community organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club board, Pregnancy Resource Center , Rotary, Jaycees, YMCA, National Rifle Association, and North Carolina Farm Bureau.

Education and Political Experience

• Education: Graduate of Appalachian State University; completed the Graduate Certificate in Teaching program at UNC Charlotte.
• Early Career: Served in the U.S. Marine Corps and Reserve; became a realtor in 1997.
• Political Career: Elected to the North Carolina House in 2010 as a Republican for District 110; re-elected seven times through 2024, defeating Democrat Justin "JW" Matthews in the general election. Served on the House Committee on Governmental Operations Commission. Defeated in the 2026 Republican primary by Caroline Eason after eight terms.
