Biography
Kelly Hancock is a Republican politician born on December 2, 1963, in Fort Worth, Texas, and currently residing in North Richland Hills. He serves as the Acting Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts since July 1, 2025, after nearly 20 years in the Texas Legislature, including as a Texas State Senator for District 9 from 2013 to present and previously in the Texas House from 2006 to 2012. A small business owner of a family-founded distribution company , he is a fiscal conservative advocating for limited government, lower taxes, property tax reform, border security, and consumer protections like ending surprise medical billing. Notable achievements include authoring Texas's conservative state spending cap , negotiating the Texas Property Tax Reform & Relief Act, fully funding the border wall and Operation Lone Star, passing protections against frivolous COVID-19 lawsuits , supporting constitutional carry, and church security measures. He has chaired key committees such as Veteran Affairs, Business and Commerce, and served on Finance and others, earning recognitions like "Courageous Conservative" and "Champion of Small Business." Hancock is a living donor kidney recipient and organ donation advocate.
