Biography
Kellee Hennessy Dickerson
Kellee Hennessy Dickerson was born on February 6, 1970, in Watson, Louisiana. She is a Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, representing District 64, which encompasses parts of East Baton Rouge Parish and Livingston Parish. She has served in this position since January 8, 2024.
Before her election to the state legislature, Dickerson worked as a television news anchor and reporter and is a small business owner. She also served on the Livingston Parish School Board for four terms prior to her state legislative career.
Education
Dickerson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Journalism.
Political Experience
Dickerson was first elected to the Louisiana House in 2023. She advanced to the runoff following the October 14, 2023 Jungle primary and defeated opponent Kellie Alford in the November 18, 2023 runoff election with 60.3% of the vote.
In the state legislature, Dickerson serves on several committees, including Health and Welfare, Judiciary, and Transportation, Highways and Public Works. She also serves on the House Select Committee on Disaster Recovery and the House Select Committee on Women and Children. Additionally, she holds the position of Vice Chair of the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus.
Notable legislative efforts include introducing House Bill 777 in 2024, which would have imposed restrictions on libraries and library workers regarding membership in the American Library Association. She has also helped fund the Louisiana Freedom Caucus. Her voting record reflects conservative positions, including support for constitutional carry legislation and votes against mail-in voting for incarcerated individuals.
