Biography
Keishan M. Scott is a Democratic representative for South Carolina House District 50 . A Bishopville native and paralegal, he was elected in a June 2025 special election at age 24 to succeed Rep. Will Wheeler, defeating Republican William Oden with 71% of the vote. He is the youngest member of the South Carolina General Assembly since 2016. Notable achievements include becoming Bishopville’s youngest city councilman at age 22 and serving as a first-generation college graduate and clergyman focused on community unity.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned degrees from Central Carolina Technical College and the University of South Carolina.
- Political Experience: Elected to Bishopville City Council at 22; won the 2025 District 50 Democratic primary by a narrow 11-vote margin over Carl Whetsel, followed by the general election victory. Priorities include improving healthcare access, education, infrastructure, and workforce development. Serves from Columbia office at 422D Blatt Bldg.
