Kayla Young is a Democratic delegate representing District 56 in the West Virginia House of Delegates. Born on July 12, 1988, in West Virginia, she resides in South Charleston with her husband Troy Rankin, children Milo and Zella, and their dog Delilah. An entrepreneur and former egg roll chef, she is the daughter of Sarah Hatcher and identifies as LGBTQ+. Notable achievements include serving as Minority Leader Pro Tempore, Ranking Minority Member on committees like Government Organization, Energy and Manufacturing, and Workforce Development, and Co-Chair of the West Virginia Future Caucus. Her priorities—expanding alternative energy, improving unemployment systems, and enhancing childcare access—resulted in successful legislation during her first term. She has sponsored numerous bills, including 89 as lead sponsor in 2026.
