Biography
Katy Duhigg is a Democratic member of the New Mexico Senate representing District 10 . Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she is an attorney and founding partner of the Duhigg Law Firm. She is the sister of journalist Charles Duhigg. Elected in 2020 after defeating incumbent Republican Candace Gould, she assumed office on January 19, 2021, and was re-elected in 2024.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: University of Oregon ; University of New Mexico .
- Political Experience: Prior to the Senate, Duhigg served as Albuquerque City Clerk , where she oversaw the 2019 local election, revamped the Election Code, and passed public financing and ethics reforms. She worked as a legal analyst for the New Mexico House Judiciary Committee and state vice-chair of Common Cause New Mexico.
- Current Roles: Chair of the Senate Rules Committee; member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Known for expertise in election law.

- Making New Mexico the first state to expand public financing for district court judicial candidates.
