Biography

Katie Montgomery Dempsey is a Republican representing Georgia House District 13, which includes the city of Rome and parts of Floyd County. Elected in November 2006 and sworn in January 2007, she serves as Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources, overseeing portions of the state's budgets. She is married to Lynn Dempsey, with two children and seven grandchildren.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia; graduate of the Georgia Legislative Leadership Institute, Coverdell Leadership Institute, and Emerging Political Leaders Program at Darden School of Business.
