Katie Montgomery Dempsey is a Republican representing Georgia House District 13, which includes the city of Rome and parts of Floyd County. Elected in November 2006 and sworn in January 2007, she serves as Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources, overseeing portions of the state's budgets. She is married to Lynn Dempsey, with two children and seven grandchildren.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia; graduate of the Georgia Legislative Leadership Institute, Coverdell Leadership Institute, and Emerging Political Leaders Program at Darden School of Business.
• Political Experience: Prior to the state House, served as Rome City Commissioner, including Chair of the Community Development Committee, and held roles in statewide economic development and transportation task forces. In the Georgia House , she has served as Chief Deputy Whip , co-chaired joint study committees on mental health, violence against healthcare workers, and immigration reform, and is a current member of committees including Economic Development & Tourism, Energy/Utilities/Telecom, Higher Education, Public and Community Health, Rules, Transportation, and Special Committee on Healthcare.

• Appointed by the Governor to the Georgia Children’s Cabinet, Georgia Commission on Medical Cannabis, and Older Adults Cabinet; serves on the Division of Family and Children Services’ State of Hope Design Team.
