Biography
Kathy Tran is a Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates representing District 18 . Born in Vietnam, she fled as a boat refugee with her parents at seven months old and arrived in the United States at age two. She lives in West Springfield with her husband, Matt Reisman, and their five children. Tran serves as Majority Caucus Chair for the House of Delegates and previously held the role of Deputy Democratic Whip. Notable achievements include her election in 2017 as one of the first two Asian-American women in the Virginia House, advocacy for immigrants and refugees, and legislation expanding healthcare, reproductive rights, public schools, affordable housing, voting access, environmental protections, and gun violence reduction.

- Political Experience: Elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2017 ; civil servant at the U.S. Department of Labor; advocacy at the National Immigration Forum; former president of West Springfield Elementary School PTA; affiliations with Springfield District Democratic Committee and West Springfield Women Marchers Huddle; Vice Chair of Health and Human Services Committee.
