Biography
Kathy Steinhoff is a Democratic member of the Missouri House of Representatives representing District 45. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she brings extensive experience in education and public service to her legislative role.
Education and Career
Steinhoff had a distinguished career as a mathematics educator, teaching for 34 years in Columbia Public Schools before her retirement. During her tenure, she held significant leadership positions within the school system, serving as Mathematics Department Chair and as a member of the school's Leadership Team.
Her contributions to education were recognized with notable awards, including the NEA Member Benefits Award for Teaching Excellence in 2011 and a lifetime achievement award from the University of Missouri's College of Education and Human Development in 2023.
Political Experience
Beyond her classroom work, Steinhoff was deeply involved with her local teacher's union, serving in various capacities including as President from 2015 to 2021. As a member of the Bargaining Team, she advocated for improved compensation and working conditions for teachers across the district.
Steinhoff initially ran for state representative out of concern for public education, gun violence prevention, and social equity for all Missourians. After serving one year in the Missouri House, she ran for re-election, committed to representing the interests of her constituents and advancing these core priorities.
