About

Kate Logan is a nonprofit executive and politician serving as a Progressive/Democrat representative for Chittenden-16 in the Vermont House of Representatives. Elected in 2022 alongside Jill Krowinski with 45.0% of the vote, she assumed office on January 4, 2023, and currently serves on the House Committee on Environment and Energy. Notable achievements include overseeing a card check for Ben & Jerry's employees in Burlington during their unionization process. She lives in the Bright Street Housing Cooperative in Burlington's Old North End with her two children and cat, and enjoys dance, hiking, camping, snowboarding, travel, reading, cooking, and art.

Education and Political Experience

  • Born in Chicago, Illinois, in a racially, ethnically, and religiously diverse working-class community; first in her family to graduate college and graduate school, completing degrees as a single parent.
  • Earned a Bachelor of Philosophy from the University of Oregon in 2009 as a McNair Scholar.
  • Obtained a Master's degree in social and political philosophy in 2017 and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Vermont in 2015.
  • Moved to Vermont in 2013; held positions in nonprofit and government sectors advancing progressive public policy on democracy, human rights, economics, social and economic oppression, cooperative child care, and housing.
  • Previously served as Director of Programming and Policy at Rights & Democracy.
  • Since August 2022, Director of the Vermont Coalition of Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs in Berlin.
  • Member of the Vermont House of Representatives: 2023–present.
