Biography
Kate Donaghue is a Democratic State Representative serving Massachusetts' 19th Worcester District since 2023. The district includes Framingham , Northborough , and Southborough . Notable achievements include chairing the Long Trail Protection Fund Committee, which protected over 25,000 acres of land from development, and organizing lobbying efforts for addiction treatment improvements following her son Brian's death from an overdose in 2018. She serves on the Family Advisory Council on opioids for the Attorney General’s Office and has received the President's Award from the Westborough Community Land Trust.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: BS and MS in Medical Technology; MS in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute .
- Political Experience: Elected State Representative for the 19th Worcester District ; won the 2024 Democratic Primary with 99.8% of the vote. Active participant in Westborough Town Meeting and organizer of annual candidates forums.
- Community Service: Past member of Westborough Open Space Preservation Committee; past board member of Green Mountain Club and Westborough Community Land Trust; volunteer with Appalachian Mountain Club, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, and Sudbury Valley Trustees.
