Karl Rhoads is a Democrat representing District 13 in the Hawaii State Senate, covering areas including Nu‘uanu, Pacific Heights, Pauoa, Punchbowl, Pālama, Liliha, Iwilei, Chinatown, and Downtown on Oʻahu. Born January 24, 1963, he has served nearly 20 years in the Hawaii Legislature, first elected to the House in 2006 and transitioning to the Senate in 2016. Notable achievements include chairing the Senate Judiciary Committee since 2019 , Legislator of the Year by the Hawaii Dental Association , Humane State Legislator Award , and Patsy T. Mink Award . He has also received recognitions for environmental work, senior care advocacy, and community service, including long-term roles on the Downtown Neighborhood Board and Chinatown Citizens Patrol.
