Biography

Karl Brabenec is a Republican Assembly Member representing New York's 98th Assembly District, which spans parts of Orange and Rockland counties, including Deerpark, Port Jervis, Mount Hope, Wawayanda, Goshen, Greenville, Minisink, Warwick, Monroe, Tuxedo, and Ramapo. Elected on November 4, 2014, he currently serves as Minority Whip for the New York State Assembly and ranking minority member on the Assembly Labor Committee. Brabenec focuses on reducing tax burdens through budget solutions and spending cuts, while advocating for housing reforms, small business support, workforce development, and affordable childcare.

Education and Political Experience

Brabenec has been involved in community, government, and politics since age 14. Prior to the Assembly, he served as Deerpark Town Supervisor from 2010 to 2014, implementing taxpayer savings via zoning reforms, business climate improvements, and reserve funds. His community roles include former Board of Directors for the Regional Economic Community Action Program, Inc.; associate member of Orange County Shields; member of Greenwood Lake Elks Lodge #2067, Association of the United States Army, Deerpark Lion's Club, National Rifle Association, Sons of the American Legion - Monroe Post #488, and New York State Rifle and Pistol Association; and honorary Major in the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol.
