Biography
Kalan R. Haywood II is a Democratic member of the Wisconsin State Assembly representing the 16th Assembly District in Milwaukee. He serves as Assembly Assistant Minority Leader and is the youngest African American ever elected to state office in Wisconsin history. A Milwaukee native, he is a political science student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and focuses on issues like education, economic development, and public safety.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Political science student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
- Political Experience: Elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly for District 16; previously served as President of the City of Milwaukee Youth Council for two terms and represented the 6th Aldermanic District on the Youth Council for three terms. Chairs the City of Milwaukee Restorative Justice Advisory Board; serves on seven Assembly committees including Housing and Real Estate , Committee on Assembly Organization, Committee on Energy and Utilities, Committee on Transportation, Committee on Rules, Joint Committee on Legislative Organization, and Joint Legislative Council. Appointed to the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority and Wisconsin Center District; also on the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District Board of Directors.
