Biography
Kai Juanna Belton is the state representative for District 100 in Middletown, Connecticut. She was elected in a special election on March 3, 2023, and won re-election in the general election on November 5, 2024. With nearly two decades as a licensed master social worker, Belton is recognized for her leadership in victims' services, children's mental health, and advocacy for affordable housing, quality healthcare, education, equity, and justice. She serves on the Labor and Public Employees, Public Health, and Housing committees.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a master’s degree in social work from Springfield College.
- Professional Experience: Clinical director for Safe Connect at the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence; executive director of New Horizons Domestic Violence Services; director of CT Strong; clinician at Middlesex Youth Mobile Crisis.
- Political Experience: Elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives in a 2023 special election to succeed Quentin Williams; re-elected in 2024.
