Justis Robert Gibbs II is a Democratic member of the Mississippi House of Representatives representing District 72 , a position he has held since 2024. A practicing attorney and associate at Gibbs Travis PLLC in Jackson, Mississippi, he was born, raised, and educated in District 72, following in the footsteps of his attorney parents—his mother vacated her legislative seat for a judgeship once held by his father. Gibbs won election by topping a four-person primary and securing 61% in the runoff. Notable achievements include selection for the Future Caucus Innovation Fellowship for Gen Z and millennial lawmakers focused on civic engagement, and presenting checks to the Hinds County Board of Supervisors. He serves on committees including Banking and Financial Services, Education, Judiciary A, Medicaid, Tourism, and Workforce Development, and advocates for fully funding the Mississippi Adequate Education Program , improving Jackson streets, restoring ballot initiatives, expanding Medicaid, establishing a child tax credit, and reforming voter registration.
