Biography
Justin Quincy Slaughter is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives representing the 27th district, which includes portions of Chicago and neighboring communities on the South Side, such as Washington Heights, where he was born and still resides. A native Chicagoan and retired college basketball player, he assumed office on January 5, 2017, succeeding Monique D. Davis. Notable positions include past roles as full-time state legislator, former policy advisor to Governor Pat Quinn, deputy director at the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice, legislative coordinator in Cook County offices, and district director for Cook County Commissioner Stanley Moore and State Senator Kwame Raoul.
