Biography
Justin Cochran is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 55th District . A lifelong resident of Des Plaines since 1997, he was appointed to the seat on December 30, 2025, succeeding Rep. Marty Moylan, for whom he previously served as chief of staff. Cochran emphasizes responsive constituent services, fiscal responsibility, and practical solutions for community issues like transportation, infrastructure, and seniors' services. He holds leadership roles at Saint Martin’s Episcopal Church in Des Plaines, including vestry member and warden.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduate of Maine West High School; earned a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in political science from Northeastern Illinois University.
- Political Experience: Began career in public service as an archivist with the Illinois State Archives, preserving state historical records. Later served as Chief of Staff to State Rep. Marty Moylan, managing legislative operations, constituent services, and district outreach in collaboration with local governments and advocacy groups. Sworn in as state representative for the 104th General Assembly in December 2025.
