Biography
Justin Brown is a Republican Missouri State Senator representing District 16, which includes Dent, Laclede, Maries, Phelps, Pulaski, and Wright counties. A native of Phelps County and resident of Rolla, he was first elected in 2018, winning by a landslide with 70% of the vote, and has since won re-election, including a close Republican primary against state Rep. Suzie Pollock. He is a farmer operating over 2,200 acres raising corn and soybeans, with a cow-calf operation, and previously worked as a commercial loan officer specializing in agricultural financing. Notable positions include Chairman of the Senate’s interim Subcommittee on Illegal Immigration, co-chairman of the Joint Committee on Agriculture, and member of the Electric Vehicle Task Force. He is active in the Missouri Cattleman’s Association, Dent/Phelps County Cattleman’s Association, Missouri Beef Council, Phelps County Farm Bureau, and local MFA Cooperative, and leads the Elk Prairie 4-H Club in livestock management and calf competitions. Brown belongs to Masons Lodge #213 and attends St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rolla. He is married to Laura, a lifelong educator pursuing a Ph.D., and they have three children.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla with a degree in history. Former president of his local FFA chapter and recipient of a state FFA degree.
- Political Experience: Elected to Missouri Senate District 16 in 2018; re-elected as incumbent, including a narrow primary victory. Serves as a staunch conservative focused on protecting life, constitutional rights, reducing regulations, supporting agriculture, small businesses, and early childhood education.
