Biography of Representative Justin Bamberg
Justin Tyler Bamberg is a Democratic member of the South Carolina House of Representatives representing District 90, which encompasses Bamberg, Colleton, Dorchester, and Orangeburg Counties.
Bamberg was born on March 7, 1987, in Bamberg, South Carolina, to Kenneth and Ronda Bamberg. He is an attorney and serves as the owner of Bamberg Legal, LLC. As a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, he is actively involved in the legal profession and the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyers Division.
Beyond his legal practice, Bamberg demonstrates community commitment through various civic roles. He serves as the 3rd Vice Chairman of the Bamberg County Democratic Party and has been involved with Healing Species, Inc., serving on its Board of Directors since 2009 and as Chairman of the Board since 2014. He is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Education
Bamberg earned both his Bachelor of Arts degree and Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina, graduating with his B.A. in 2009 and his J.D. in 2011.
Political Experience
Bamberg has represented South Carolina House District 90 since December 2014, when he assumed office following his predecessor Bakari Sellers, who vacated the seat to run for Lieutenant Governor. He serves on the House Judiciary Committee, where he has been instrumental in legislative discussions.
In the 2024 election, Bamberg, a Democrat, defeated Republican challenger Herbert Dixon by approximately 3,500 votes and subsequently filed for reelection in 2026.
