Biography

Julie Fedorchak, a fourth-generation North Dakotan, was born on September 28, 1968, in Williston and raised in Fargo. She currently serves as the U.S. Representative for North Dakota's at-large congressional district, having assumed office on January 3, 2025. Fedorchak is the first woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from North Dakota.

Before her congressional tenure, Fedorchak dedicated over a decade to the North Dakota Public Service Commission . Appointed by Governor Jack Dalrymple in December 2012, she was subsequently elected to the position in 2014, 2016, and 2022. During her time on the PSC, she played a pivotal role in overseeing the permitting of more than $15 billion in energy infrastructure projects and advocated for reliability-based market reforms as North Dakota's liaison to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator .

Fedorchak's commitment to public service is further exemplified by her leadership roles, including serving as president of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners until November 2024.

She is married to Mike Fedorchak, a Navy veteran, and together they have three children. The family resides in Mandan, North Dakota, and are active members of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit parish.
