Biography
Julian Ivey , a Democrat, represents District 47A in Prince George's County, Maryland, in the Maryland House of Delegates. Born on August 3, 1995, in Prince George's County, he was first elected in 2018, defeating incumbent Jimmy Tarlau in the Democratic primary and winning unopposed in the general election; he was sworn in on January 9, 2019. Notable achievements include serving as Deputy Majority Whip , Vice Chair of the Public Safety and Administration Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee, Vice Chair of the Prince George's County Delegation , and member of the Chesapeake Bay Commission . He has advocated for safer communities, expanded social safety nets, funding for domestic violence support, flood mitigation, tax credits, and capital projects like FBI relocation and hospital expansions in Prince George's County. Previously, he served on the Cheverly Town Council and is a member of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland.
