Biography
Juan Carlos Porras is a Republican representing Florida House District 119 . He assumed office on November 8, 2022, as the youngest state legislator in Florida at the time, and was reelected subsequently. A small business owner and Catholic, his recreational interests include basketball, fencing, and golf.
Notable achievements include passing two major HOA reform bills establishing the Homeowners' Bill of Rights for greater accountability and transparency in HOA boards. He also supported the state budget funding school choice programs, toll relief, and domestic security, while voting to lower taxes and enhance family safety.
He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Commerce Committee and Industries & Professional Activities Subcommittee, with additional assignments on the Judiciary Committee, Select Committee on Property Taxes, Education Administration Subcommittee, Health Professions & Programs Subcommittee, and Justice Budget Subcommittee.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Florida International University.
- Political Experience: Worked in the offices of U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, then-Governor Rick Scott, and state representatives Juan Fernandez-Barquin and Spencer Roach prior to his election. Elected to the Florida House in 2022.
