Josiah Aullaqsruaq Patkotak is an Iñupiaq politician and the current mayor of the North Slope Borough, serving at-large as an Independent. A lifelong Alaska resident born and raised in Barrow, he represented District 40 in the Alaska House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023, resigning after his election as mayor in October 2023 at age 29—the youngest person to hold the position. Notable achievements include serving as chair of the House Arctic Policy, Economic Development and Tourism Committee, briefly as Speaker of the House, and his prior acting role in the 2011 film On the Ice. He is married to Flora Atqaqsaaq Patkotak with three children: Skylar Qimigluk, Dillon Kunagraq, and Elijah Avaqqan. His interests include family, faith, whaling, and hunting.
