Josh West is a Republican representative for Oklahoma's 5th House District, serving since January 2017. A decorated U.S. Army veteran born on September 19, 1976, he was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, earning the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with “V” Device for Valor after being shot multiple times in 2003 while shielding his injured battalion commander during a firefight in Karbala, Iraq. Medically retired from the Army in 2005 after nine years of service, he currently serves as Majority Floor Leader and is a co-founder and former chair of the Legislative Veterans Caucus. He serves on committees including Government Modernization and Technology and Insurance. Raised in Grove, Oklahoma, he lives in the district with his wife and four children.
